ACMC was established to:was

interaction between science and industry in the use of advanced
computing technologies and techniques;

undertake
high quality research in the broad field of computational
science with particular applications to advanced computing,
visualisation and computational biology;

develop
and present educational modules in its research strengths;

to
provide expertise and support within the university, regionally
and nationally, on matters involving its research strengths;
More
recently ACMC has taken on additional roles. Its additional
roles are to:

provide
an interface to national and
international programs on grid
computing and eScience such as UK
eScience;

continue
to assist with the management of UQs High Performance
Computing (HPC) and advanced visualisation facilities;

broaden
the usage of visualisation in the arts, social and medical
sciences.
