Latest ACMC News
The ACMC is a research centre within The University of Queensland which specialises in modelling, visualisation and high performance computing. It currently employs approximately 20 computational scientists who work on a diverse range of projects in fields such as science, engineering, medicine and visual arts. In addition we have several postgraduate students enrolled in PhD, Masters and Honours courses. Other university staff and industry representatives can be seconded to the Centre for specific projects and for professional training. The ACMC heavily utilises the University of Queensland's Visualisation and Advanced Computation Laboratory (ViSAC). The Centre for Plant Architecture and Informatics (CPAI) came under the umbrella of the ACMC in 2003.

The ACMC can provide:

  • professional training courses in advanced computational techniques, visualisation tools and World Wide Web technologies and associated informatics;
  • the ViSAC laboratory and the supercomputer as an aesthetic world-class venue for commercial based courses and workshops;
  • software engineering services including rewrites and porting of code to high performance workstations and supercomputers.

Some of the expertise available to outside groups include:

  • software development;
  • advice in scientific computation, visualisation and Web technologies;
  • advice on software packages;
  • software re-engineering;
  • training of staff through secondment to the centre;
  • simulation and software development through student sponsorship schemes;
  • public Internet sessions and professional Workshops.
